BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Three students, Samuel Christian Coe (Electrical Engineering 2015), Bagas Purwa Sentika (Telecommunication Engineering 2016) and Michael Sihombing (Telecommunication Engineering 2015) from School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics of ITB (STEI-ITB) bring fame to ITB in Huawei ICT Competition 2018-2019 held in JS Luwansa Hotel, Jl. H. R. Rasuna Said, South Jakarta on 17-18 December 2018.
In the competition, there are 16 teams coming from 8 participating universities, such as Institut Teknologi Bandung, Telkom University, Universitas Multimedia Nusantara, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Universitas Indonesia, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November, Universitas Padjadjaran, and Universitas Diponegoro. The students were tested in networking for configuration of intra-area networking device to enable communication with each other, wired/wireless, and safety configuration in the network.
All participants have to make a design and create the configuration on the given network device. Both accuracy of configuration and design have their own points. Team with the highest points becomes the winner.
Each university, including ITB, sent two teams. The team is formed based on the result of selection in university level.
Six students that passed theoretical and practical test in university level were divided into two teams that consist of 3 students each.
The Champion’s Preparation
Strive and well preparation were done by both teams. Samuel, one of the team members, said that both teams only have 3 weeks to prepare.
With intensive exercise and strong ambition, Samuel, Bagas, and Michael advance to the next stage and carry ITB’s name in national level to represent Indonesia in regional level (South East Asia and Australia) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on March 2019.
If they pass the regional level, they will advance to the final stage in Shenzhen, China on April 2019. “I am grateful for this national champion in Huawei ICT. The event itself is fun and tense because there were many things to configure in a short time,” said Samuel.
