ITB Won 1st Place Scientific Publication in Institutional Category in Sinta Award 2019

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti) presented the SINTA Award 2019 in Jakarta on Thursday (12/9/2019). The award is a form of appreciation towards authors, institutions, and inventors in Indonesia.

In this year’s SINTA Award, Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) receives 1st place Scientific Publication in Institutional Category. The award was handed over by Minister Mohamad Nasir to Vice Rector of Academic and Student Affairs Bermawi Priyatna Iskandar.

In addition, ITB also receives 2nd place Scientific Publication in Author Category, received by I Gede Wenten from Chemical Engineering Process Design and Development Research Group at Faculty of Industrial Technology of ITB (FTI).

Vice Rector Bermawi Priyatna Iskandar said that the award for ITB means as an appreciation to researchers in ITB who have worked hard in making scientific publications.

“This award is an appreciation for ITB researches who have worked outstandingly so that their works receive recognition and award through SINTA Award,” said Bermawi on Friday.

The award, he added, will bring extra motivation to researchers in ITB to work harder in making quality publications and bring great impact to Indonesian people and the world.

According to Bermawi, high publication productivity by ITB researchers is promoted by a strategic program, where each research group in ITB receives 500 million rupiahs to improve their research activities.

“This increased funding will trigger acceleration of publications quantity, which leads to increasing productivity. ITB nonetheless should also improve the quality of research which is indicated by the number of citation,” he said.

Moreover, this professor in Manufacture System Research Group said that the future challenges for ITB researches is to produce publication on international journal with Q1 reputation.

Regarding that, ITB also have World Class University program (WCU). Improvement of publication quality is important because ITB aim to enter the top 200 universities in the world in the next five years.

In accordance with that target, the quality of research is required to improve the position in QS and THE university ranking. “Hopefully results of researches can be commercialized. The results of researches can lead to patents and innovations that bring impact to economy,” he concluded.
