ITB’s First Graduation Ceremony in October 2021: 2596 Students Graduated

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id—ITB’s (Institut Teknologi Bandung) first 2021/2022 open graduation assembly on Saturday (23/10/2021) was held as a hybrid event. The ceremony was done offline at the West Hall of ITB and online via Zoom and Youtube.

The hybrid system of the graduation was implemented for the first time since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. 35 chosen graduates from doctoral, master, occupational engineering, and undergraduate programs participated in the procession while following strict health protocols.

Based on the Rector’s Decree No. 925 Year 2021, the total number of October 2021 graduates from all study degrees and programs is 2596, as read by the Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs of ITB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jaka Sembiring, M.Eng.

1746 undergraduates are participating in the ceremony, with 661 of them receiving the cumlaude title. The student with the highest GPA (3.98) is Jan Meyer Saragih from SEEI (School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics). On the other hand, the youngest graduate goes to Mochamad Vanris Arya Saputra, a 19-year-old student from SBM (School of Business and Management).

803 graduates are from the master’s program, in which 280 of them receive the cumlaude title while 24 scored 4.00 in their GPA. The youngest graduate in this program is Riska Amalia (21) from FMPE (Faculty of Mining and Petroleum).

Graduates from the doctoral program comprise 40 students. 11 of them received the cumlaude title. Ronald Marthen Pieter Kolibu from FAD (Faculty of Arts and Design) has the highest GPA (4.00) while Muhammad Reza is the youngest graduate (29) in this program. Additionally, graduates from the occupational engineering program consist of 7 students, with Andreas Widodo Regig Raharja from chemical engineering achieving the highest GPA (4.00).

In her opening speech, Prof. Reini congratulated all graduates for their newly-earned titles. “Your academic achievements are the results of hard work, patience, perseverance, moral supports, and prayers from your families,” she declared.

Prof, Reini also delivered good news regarding ITB’s accomplishments. She mentioned that ITB collaborated with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to perform a successful flight test fueled with Bioavtur J.24 on 6 October 2021. The fuel was made with the help of a catalyst manufactured by both ITB and Pertamina. The flight succeeded in covering the distance of Bandung to Jakarta.

All Deans of ITB's Faculties congratulate the student for graduating. Each faculty invited 3 graduates to join the onsite ceremony- one representing the doctoral, master’s, and undergraduate programs respectively.

At the end of the ceremony, representatives from all academic programs gave parting words to each other. They were also given the opportunity to share their impressions on becoming ITB graduates.
