ITB's Rector Visited Tsukuba University and Kyoto University to Strengthen International Collaboration and Cooperation.

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) Rector, Prof. Reini Wirahidikusumah, Ph.D., along with the institute's secretary, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ir. Widjaja Martokusumo, visited Japan from September 28 to October 8, 2023. Their itinerary included visits to several Japanese universities, namely Tsukuba University, Kyoto University, and Osaka University. Additionally, Prof. Reini and Prof. Widjaja participated in the Science and Technology in Society event held in Kyoto from October 1 to 3, 2023.
Their first agenda was attending the 151st-anniversary celebration of Tsukuba University, situated approximately 60 kilometers from Tokyo. The event, themed "Design the Future," saw active participation from all stakeholders. Prof. Widjaja highlighted valuable lessons for ITB to glean from Tsukuba University's commemorative event, emphasizing the simplicity, impact, and meaning orchestrated under the rector's guidance.
Following this, Prof. Reini and Prof. Widjaja visited Kyoto University. The ITB delegation, including the Rector, Institute's secretary, and researchers from ITB's Architecture Planning Research Group (KKPA), such as Dr. GES Mohammad Zaini Dahlan, S.P., M.Si., received a warm welcome from Kyoto University's President, Prof. Nagahiro Minato. During the meeting, Prof. Widjaja discussed potential collaboration with Kyoto University, particularly with KKPA ITB. "We are working on a collaborative project with individuals from the Graduate School of Environmental Kyoto University. This aligns with the rector's initiative for international collaboration," he stated.
ITB's representatives also visited the Society Academy Collaboration for Innovation (SACI) at Kyoto University. SACI is a community within Kyoto University that promotes collaborative research between academia, industry, and government to make a global impact. Prof. Widjaja emphasized that SACI aligns with ITB's global engagement, focusing not only on academic and research collaborations but also on implementing outcomes in industry, business, and other sectors. He expressed hope that international collaborations would enrich ITB's experiences, benefiting the institution academically and positioning ITB at the forefront of innovation.
