BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - Industrial metallurgy and materials plays an important role in all aspects of human activity. This is evidenced by the increasing number of industrial consumption of commodities such as motor vehicles, aircraft, construction materials and power plants and factory machinery. Moving on from these thoughts, Ikatan Mahasiswa Teknik Metalurgi (IMMG) ITB in cooperation with ITB Metallurgical Engineering Program and Student Association of Metallurgy and Materials Indonesia (PM3I) organized a series of events to accommodate students facing the metallurgical industry and the material in the future. The event titled Metallurgy and Materials Challenge (M2C), held on Saturday and Sunday (28-29 / 11/15) in the West Hall ITB and Space Seminar Mining-Metallurgical ITB.

With the theme "synergizing the Growth of Metallurgy and Materials Industry to Tackle Global Challenges", the event was an initial breakthrough IMMG ITB in order to contribute to global challenges around the world of metallurgy and materials. M2C 2015 was held on the initiative of the Ministry of Profession IMMG ITB 2015/2016. The initial idea of the department is holding a series of events consisting of home tournament (HT) for internal IMMG ITB and continued with national contest. "The main purpose of this event is to accommodate Indonesia's young generation of diverse educational backgrounds to come together, discuss and brainstorm to find solutions to the problems of metallurgy and materials globally," Niko Dian Pahlavi (Metallurgical Engineering 2012) said as the Head of the Department of Profession IMMG ITB 2015/2016.

M2C Awaken the Soul Competition and Education Students

M2C event consists of two parts, namely The Challenge and Metallurgy Expo. Both events have the same function, but designed with a different concept. The Challenge is a competition of knowledge of metallurgy in the form of a quiz with the creative talent to collaborate various forms of competitions into a single entity, namely the Chal-Problem Solving (solving problems in plant design extraction of metals, such as sheet material and heat balance), Chal-Think Fast and Chal-Analyze (analysis regarding metallurgical industry).

In contrast to The Challenge, Metallurgy Expo consists of an exhibition of works in metallurgy and materials, exhibition posters that bring the latest metallurgical issues, and grand seminar which discussed the metallurgy science and its prospects for the future. M2C three speakers that play a role in the metallurgical industry in the grand seminar, namely Ir. Mohammad Hidayat (Mineral Business Development Director), Agus Zamzam Jamaluddin (Director of Operations PT Antam (Antam) Tbk.), Ir. H. Satya Widya Yudha (Vice Chairman of Commission VII of the House of Representatives). The third speaker enthusiastically gave an overview on the development of national metallurgy industry today to the participants of the seminar.

The Challenge for the event itself, there are 85 teams from various universities in Indonesia who joined the kompertisi follow. On Saturday (11/28/15), ten best team returned to compete in the final round. There is also a team that won the team event The Challenge is PFZ of ITB as the first prize, followed by a team of University of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa and Tim Gessy Slag of ITB as champions of two and three. "Through the event The Challenge, I and his teammates felt strongly tested in terms of the department itself. And in terms of the seminar, I also get a new science of the event," Aziz Algafari (Metallurgical Engineering 2012) said as one of the team Gessy Slag winning The third position of the event The Challenge.
