Representing ITB, he expressed his thanks to Permata Bank for holding the talk show, and he hoped all attending students could take the knowledge and experience from the president director and widen their insight. The talk show then continued with explanation by President Director of Permata Bank, Dr. Ridha Wirakusumah about Financial and Technology (Fintech) which currently experience rapid development in Indonesia and in the world.

Ridha said that technology develops very fast recently, and it has penetrated financial sector. Development that happened during the past 5 years may be greater than it did 50 years before. Today, Fintech in Indonesia has the fastest development in the world, because of Indonesia’s market potential. Old business model in the form of ownership economy is shifting to sharing economy model and engage wider community.

Right now there are 157 Fintech companies in Indonesia, developing since 2007 when there were only dozens operating. Those companies are divided into three, Wrappers such as Go-Pay and Doku, Reformers such as Amartha and Modalku, and Replacers such as Bitcoin and Bitpay. “Faster Fintech development to banks could be disastrous if banks could not adapt, but it will build banks better and stronger if banks could adapt” he concluded.
