BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - As an institution that has given birth to countless prominent figures in Indonesian development, ITB has a huge responsibility to advance the nation's goals in all possible aspects. The complexity and heterogenity involved in Indonesia's development demands every person that hopes to contribute in it to be able to blend in in the society.
"In the campus, an active student is trained to anticipate, respond, and answer various problems scientifically. But this omits the compexity and heterogenity of the larger society," Akhmaloka conveyed in hos speech in the Second Graduation of 2010/2011 last Saturday.
According to Akhmaloka, various problems in Indonesia were rooted from the so many perspectives, point of views, and beliefs involved in any decision-making process. Graduates should realize this in order to take a role in solving the various problems involved.
Answering with Science
Akhmaloka stressed the need of more Science and Technology to be involved in Indonesia's development, especially with challenges such as environment and energy which are taking more central stages nowadays. "ITB students will assist the nation in integrating science and technology into the national development," he said.
He also hoped that the new graduates would be generous in sharing what they know and have, as well as to care for others. He said that the involvement off all these values are the key towards a better nation.
