Reviewing Readiness of Indonesia, ITB Hold Seminar on Gas Conversion

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - To review the readiness of Indonesia to use gas as fuel for motor vehicles, the Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development (LPIK) ITB with Directorate General of Oil and Gas Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) held a seminar on the gas conversion on Thursday (23/02/2012).
The seminar that was attended by Deputy Minister of ESDM, Prof. Widjajono Partowidagno as keynote speaker was also aimed to introduce gas fuel to the public.

LPIK chairman Prof. Suhono Harso Supangkat explained, the seminar was held in three sessions. The first session discussed the aspects of policy: gas conversion policy, BBM subsidy policy, and implementation policy, and industrial support policy.

People that play a role in that several policy present in the seminar to do discussion. In terms of transportation, attend Director of Urban Transport System (BSTP) Dr. Elly Sinaga representing the deputy Minister of Transportation. Discussing the fuel conversion from financial support, present Deputy of Finance Minister Mahendra Siregar.

Deputy of Industry Minister Alex SW Retraubun participate in discussion to consider the conversion from the industrial point of view. The first panel seminar is complemented by the Head of Center Energy Policy - School of Architecture, Planning and Policy Development (SAPPK) ITB Dr. Retno Gumilang Dewi.

Furthermore, Suhono conveyed, gas conversion preparation include with the availability of gas, converter procurement, standardization, installation, and maintenance would be discussed in the second panel.

 "We discuss how much the availability of gas in Indonesia, how the converter kit, and so on," he said.

In the last session, the seminar discussed the aspects of the community's readiness to use fuel gas in their vehicle.

 The seminar that was also be Studium Generale lecture was opened by ITB Rector Prof. Akhmaloka. He hoped, the results of these discussions would be suggestion to the government in making decisions.

"I believe today we will discuss it (gas conversion) in detail," he said.

In this seminar also showcased some of the gas fuel converter that was made by ITB with some parties, both government or private.
