The growing number of buildings in cities made lands for food crops continued to decrease. That was the motivation behind the program with a theme of 'everyone can be a gardener'. "The project's target people are people with low income who live in cities so it's hoped that the program can help them accelerate the family's ability to produce food by themselves and encourage their spirit of entrepreneurship," said Azharia Sophiani (School of Business and Management 2013) as the Project Director.
The project was done in Kelurahan Lebak Siliwangi Office and Sanggar Tari Mitra, and was hoped to trigger people's spirit to keep joining the program when the harvesting time would come. "When the harvesting time comes, we hope we'll be able to attract people to do the same program in their house yards," said Shavira Airin, Satoe Indonesia's volunteer.
For the recent project, Satoe Indonesia focused in using the unused land to be planted with vegetables. The planting mediums varied from PVC pipes, pots, polybags, to used cans. With these simple tools, Azharia hoped that people can easily follow the program and their needs of vegetables can be self-sufficient.
Collaboration with People
To succeed, Satoe Indonesia collaborate with students of Agribusiness from Padjadjaran University, Shavira Airin, as the program counselor. Collaboration was also established with Kelurahan Lebak Siliwangi Chied, Nur Shomaddin, and the owner of Sanggar Tari Mitra, Uum in arranging the counseling, execution, and program controlling.
The program was planned three months ago. Aliekha Tierandha (School of Business and Management 2014) as the Project Manager, the committes had prepared the team establishment, brainstorming, and location research to implement the program.
