BANDUNG, itb.ac.id — The In Harmonia Progressio Team from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) has won 2nd place in the Innovation Track Huawei ICT Competition 2023. The students’ team was made up of Ihsan Saddan Rivaldi (Telecommunications Engineering 2020), Abu Hanif Muhammad Syarubany (Electrical Engineering, 2019), and Randy Zakya Suchrady (Informatics Engineering, 2019). They were mentored by a professor from the Telecommunications Engineering Research Group, School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (SEEI), Wervyan Shalannanda, S.T., M.T.
Huawei ICT Competition is a way for its participants to healthily compete and share ideas in order to increase each other's knowledge of information and communications technology (ICT), practical skills, and innovational ability in using the latest technology and platform. In the Innovation Track, participants utilized ICT, such as artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), big data, and the cloud, to resolve real-world issues, propose solutions with social and business values, and design models with a comprehensive concept.
The idea proposed by the In Harmonia Progressio Team originated from concerns revolving around the Indonesia-China High-Speed Train (ICHT) construction project’s supervising and reporting process. The idea was initially expressed by Romi (Civil Engineering, 2019), who is a team member’s friend. Romi finished an internship and has participated in the ICHT project. During his time working, he discovered various issues, which he later conveyed, consequently becoming an idea for the team’s production.
One of the team members, Randy, explained how the team spent their time brainstorming together with Romi, who outlined the ideas and the product concept. "The concepts we designed were later made into high-level and low-level diagrams, written into reports, and made into a video sent to the party at Huawei," explained Randy.
Another team member, Hanif, remarked that during the process, they applied a work division system. "There’s someone who’s on the network architecture, another on end-to-end architecture, one more on business domain, and last but not least, defining user persona," added Hanif.
The product they produced was finalized as SiteVision, a form of system-to-platform construction supervision consulting where field observation will be inputted as data into the system and directly visible to the stakeholders.
"Most of the time, the status quo consisted of reporting supervision results, which requires a long bureaucratic process that delays the project a significant amount of time," expressed Randy.
Through this product, they hope that ICHT stakeholders will have an easier experience in field decision-making and that the project will be finished on time with the expected quality.
