BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - For the third time, the Studium Generale class was held. The subject, aimed at enriching students' knowledge and awareness of the challenges the nation currently faces, hosted the Coordinating Minister of Finance, Hatta Rajasa, as the latest speaker.
Before 300 listeners, the minister elaborated the economic crisis that once swept Indonesia by storm. "It was told that we'd break. But we overcame the crisis," he said proudly.
Hatta believed that the crisis is a valuable lesson. Our success in liberating ourselves from crisis can trigger a very high optimism in our prospects. Better yet, after the crisis Indonesia's economic growth soared high above the targeted figures; a whopping 6.1 percent.
Even so, Hatta stated that Indonesia's unemployment number is still too high. The nation is still pretty much unsuccessful in fixing the classic problem.
Due to that, Hatta offers a new economic paradigm which will be launched and operational starting from April; an income per capita of 12.900-16.100 US dollars.
In the closing part of the lecture, various questions were thrown in by students. Among them concern education, industry, and other. Student Cabinet President, Herry Dharmawan, is among the students who conveyed ideas on how to directly overcome the various obstacles Indonesia faces today.
"I like students that care. Students must be critical towards governmental performance," Hatta responded.
