Teams from ITB Successfully Won the 2020 GEMASTIK Competition

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - The National Student Performance in the field of Information and Communication Technology or GEMASTIK XII 2020 is an annual competition held by the National Achievement Center (Puspresnas) of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia which was held online, October 2020. This competition competes in 11 branches of the race.
In the competition which was held on October 23, 2020, teams representing ITB won championships in several competitions. They shared their experiences and impressions with ITB Public Relations after participating in the competition.
One of the ITB teams who won 4th place was the Merimbun team. Teams compete for the Smart City category. According to Yasmin Sekar Arum, a team member from Electrical Engineering 2018, Smart Cities are needed now considering the COVID-19 pandemic is still ongoing in Indonesia, and his team feels they can implement knowledge about IoT, AI and machine learning well.
In addition, the Itbnofukkatsu team won 1st place in the programming category. "Every week we do online exercises together on existing competitive programming websites such as CodeForces, besides that we also train individually to improve the topics that we are good at, by participating in online contests and working on questions, this individual training is practiced almost every day, "said Muhammad Hasan, a team representative telling about the preparation for the competition to the PR reporter for ITB.
Muhammad Hasan and his team are interested in participating in programming competitions because they like to do problem solving and coding, besides that programming has a clearer assessment compared to other fields.
Another team is Reastudio who won 3rd place in the animation category. According to Tsania Rahmatun, a student of Visual Communication Design class 2018, her team is very grateful because Gemastik likes the animation concept they made so that they can participate in the final until they become champions.
And finally, the Lunar team who won bronze / 3rd place in the UX Design category. According to a team member, Tatya Koesandriani, a lot of research was conducted to find a product that was right for users. Even though he only won 3rd place, he felt that his product could still be improved from many sides.
According to Tatya, the role of the supervisor is very helpful in the UX design process from scratch to idea execution. From the Gemastik competition, Tatya has also gained a lot of valuable experience that will be useful for her in the future.
