The 2nd IOAA : Indonesia Sweep Up 4 Gold Medals.
India contingent which is successfully reach for 2 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze, come up as Juara Umum (the best team), superior upon 22 other state contingent. These country, well known after Bollywood film, entitled to the predicate Juara Umum after one of Indian student, Nitin Jatin, succeed to sit together the title Absolute Winner (highest total score holder) and The Best Practical on behalf of herself. Meanwhile categorize The Best Theory went to Iranian Sayed Sadradini.
Ten students who represent Indonesia are divided into team A and team B, collect 4 gold, 3 silver, 2 bronze, and 1 honorable mention in total. Indonesia gold medal rendered by Ridlo Wahyudi Wibowo, Lorenz da Silva, Ady Suwardi, and Amar Kusuma. Therefore, Indonesian team, Team A and team B each contribute 2 gold medals.
Though more gold medal for Indonesia. Our country is not recognized as champion because best team criterion assessment is not based on sum of medals collection, but from 3 people who grab highest practice and theory value from each team.
However, the result is better compared to last year medal acquirement. December 2007, at the same opportunity in Chiang Mai, Thailand, Indonesian team got 1 gold medal, 2 silver and 1 bronze.
International Olympiad of Astronomy and Astrophysics were not only filled with race and competition. There were also exhibition and some general lectures. One of them is brought by Prof. Ron Eckers, former president International Astronomical Union.
