Two Teams from ITB School of Pharmacy Won the National Science Week of Pharmacy Student (PIMFI) 2011

Two teams from ITB's School of Pharmacy, successfully grabbed the first and third title of Lomba Produk Mahasiswa Farmasi (LPMF) in National Science Week of Pharmacy Student 2011 (PIMFI). Two teams launched pharmaceutical product entitled "Slimming Jelly" and "Papazim" in that national scale competition hosted by Airlangga University, Surabaya, on Tuesday (19/07/11).
The winning team consists of Novian Pradipta, Isna Milka Yanuarti, Rafika Kultsum Fadillah, As Onima Caecilia Sirait, and Gilang Putri Suryani launched "Slimming Jelly" which is a herbal pharmaceutical body slimming products prepared in the form of ready-to-eat agar-agar. As the active substances, the preparation of this product is utilizing the combination of Guazuma ulmifolia (daun jati Belanda), Cantella asiatica (pegagan), and Ananas comosus (nanas), which have different body slimming mechanism.

Meanwhile, another team that has successfully achieved the third winner title in that prestigious competition, consists of David, Gabriela Christy, Linda Agustina Surono, Yunika, and Christanto, formulated the preparations of multienzyme herbal in the form of granule.

Interestingly, that preparation was formed by utilizing the fruit and sap potential of Carica papaya (pepaya) combined with Energy Efficiency Principles (i.e only by using fluid bed dryer equipment).   

Innovation to Inspire

Novan Pradipta (Pharmaceutical Science and Technology '08) said he was happy with ITB's achievements in PIMFI this year. "This victory is one of the factors that make us want to create and inovate more, it motivates us to achieve better"

The same impression also come from David (Pharmaceutical Science and Technology '09). "Happy and surprised, because we're still young and have just entered the major for 1 year," said David. He also hoped that the other students might explore their insight, so in the future they would be able to contribute more to people.  

Highest Number of Achievements

Previously, 4 teams from ITB successfully passed the selection to the final round of PIMFI 2011 for the category of Lomba Produk Mahasiswa Farmasi (LPMF). This number is the largest number compared to other universities, such as UIN Alauddin Makassar, Gadjah Mada University, Padjajaran University, and others.

The products introduced by ITB teams that successfully broken through to the final round of PIMFI 2011 were:

- Slimming Jelly : Herbal Solution of Natural Body Slimming
- The Utilization of Papaya as Herbal Multienzyme Suplement Preparations.
- Scrubs with Active Substance Fermented Carica papaya as Whitening Agent and Aging Inhibitors.
- Garlibetasol : Garlic Combined Milk as the Suplement for Patient with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
