5th AOTULE: Knowledge Exchange between 11 Universities

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id- This year, ITB was chosen to host an international event involving eleven states united in the Asia Oceania Top University League on Engineering (AOTULE). This year is the fifth annual AOTULE held. The event was held from Monday to Tuesday Novermber 1st-2nd in ITB campus.

The nations represented in the event were South Korea, Australia, Thailand, Taiwan, Malaysia, China, Hong-Kong, Singapore, Japan, and Indonesia. This event was comprised of a Deans Meeting and a Postgraduate Students Conference on Engineering. ITB was the only institution that represented Indonesia. The faculties representing ITB were Industrial Engineering Faculty, Aeronautics and Mechanical Engineering Faculty, Civil and Environmental Engineering Faculty, Mining and Petroleum Engineering Faculty, and Electronics and Informatics Engineering School.

In the deans meeting, deans from all institutions discussed a collaboration between universities. While in the conference, representatives presented and elaborated their respective focus of researches. Postgraduate students from each institution were chosen through a tight competition. The largest delegation was Japan with 24 students representing the nation.

Angklung in Gala Dinner

The event was closed with a gala dinner involving the deans and their families, also with students of ITB Architecture Gallery. As entertainment and showcase of Indonesian culture, shown also was a musical from the Angklung Students Unit (KPA-ITB). The show was positively welcomed by the guests in the dinner. Aside from playing angklung, the units also showed how to play the traditional instrument.

With the ending of 5th AOTULE, it is hoped that the network and cooperation between the institutions would become stronger. It is also hoped that the students involved in the event would be more creative due to the expanded horizons.
