HSBC (1) BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - A team of School of Business and Management ITB (SBM ITB) students successfully took an outstanding top spot in HSBC National Business Case Competition. Aisyah Dhia Ahsanti, Brian Charvia, Edo D. Prayogo, and Vanessa Purnawan (Management 2016), incorporated as the Golden Team ITB, performed splendidly in the competition held in Jakarta on Saturday (23/04/16). According to Brian Charvia, this team initially decided to join the event in order to enhance their analysis and problem-solving abilities as well as implementing the knowledge they have gained throughout their study. They will then represent Indonesia to World HSBC Business Case Competition, hosted in Hong Kong later this June.

HSBC (1) This annual competition was joined by many representatives from universities all around Indonesia including last year's champions. Golden Team's win was certainly an outstanding achievement considering these tight competitors. Brian said, "The hardest challenge was during the Quarantine Session when we were locked for 2.5 hours without access to materials or references needed to gather information required for the case. We were required to elaborate our knowledge and individual skills. Moreover, the presentation was conducted using an Over Heat Projector (OHP) which needed to be written on mica plastic sheets. This certainly was a brand new experience for us."

HSBC (2) The key of this team success was managing priorities, focus, and more importantly believing in themselves. As all members of the team are final year students at ITB, they were required to manage their tasks and thesis while competing in this competition. Moreover, even though academic responsibility certainly was their number one priority, but along the line, they were always open to any new challenge. "We believe by challenging ourselves to compete, we will gain new knowledge, skill, and confidence," Bryan stated.

Support from SBM ITB's lecturers also played a major part in their win. Ir. Budi Permadi Iskandar and Dr. Atik Aprianingsih provided endless guidance for the Golden Team throughout the competition. Brian commented, "They always provided us with feedbacks, evaluations, and advices for strategy in solving the case. We were very proud of being SBM ITB's students." After winning the national level competition, they will progress to the HSBC World Business Case Competition in Hong Kong. "We hope to win the International Business Case Competition 2016 on June 2016 in Hong Kong to proudly represent our country in international stage," Brian added. They will be competing with the best teams across Asia Pacific including Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, China, Hong Kong, and several others. At the end of the interview, Brian added, "We wish everyone will give their support and we will do our very best (in the World Competition). Golden Team… Bring back the golden!"
