Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) Celebrates October 2023 Graduation with 5,420 Awardees

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id — Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) recently hosted The First Graduation Ceremony of the Academic Year 2023/2024 at the Sasana Budaya Ganesha (Sabuga) Auditorium on Saturday, October 28, 2023. This significant event coincided with the 93rd Youth Pledge Day and was organized in two sessions, encompassing various faculties.
A total of 5,420 degrees were conferred across undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs this year, with 3,581 awarded to undergraduates, 1,722 to master’s program graduates, and 117 to doctoral graduates. A notable highlight of the October Graduation was the bestowal of the honorary cum laude title upon 2,124 graduates, distributed among 1,514 undergraduates, 570 master’s program graduates, and 40 doctoral program graduates.
Fachriza Andhika Putra from the Chemical Engineering program in the Faculty of Industrial Technology (FIT) emerged as the Valedictorian of the ITB Undergraduate Program, achieving an impressive cumulative GPA of 3.99 and 4.00 GPA. Additionally, 40 students with an overall 4.00 CGPA were present at the ceremony, spanning both master’s and doctoral programs.
The ceremony also recognized three outstanding young graduates, namely Zivanka Nafisa Wongkaren (FMAE ITB) at 19 years and 1 month, Jeane Irene Beatrice Gloriana Zebua Wanggai (FCEE ITB) at 21 years and 3 months, and Putu Veri Swastika (FMNS ITB) at 26 years and 4 months.
ITB Rector, Prof. Reini Wirahadikusumah, Ph.D., expressed her applause and appreciation for the graduating students. In her address, she underlined the importance of integrity, knowledge, and morality, emphasizing that being awarded a degree comes with the responsibility of contributing to societal change in Indonesia.
"We all hope and believe that all of ITB graduates are far greater than just an agent of knowledge, but they are an agent of morality as well. Without morality, knowledge has no power. The most important thing about being a graduate is to show graduate integrity," Prof. Reini added.
Looking toward the 2045 Golden Indonesia milestone, she personally believes that every ITB graduate is capable of making significant contributions in various forms. Prof. Reini stressed that the development of Indonesia depends on the knowledge and skills of the young generations of graduates.
The ceremony concluded with the announcement of the best graduating students and youngest graduating students from each faculty. Notable individuals included Stefanus Evan Harlan (FMAE), Fachriza Andhika Putra (FIT), Muhammad Alvino Nurfalah (SBM), Daniel Seroga Bara Pramesta (FAD), Abrar Taimullah (FMPE), Nicholas Emanuel (FCEE), Raditya Putra Pratama (SAPPD), Lia Susanti (SF), Vanessa (SITH), and Reyhan Emyr Arrosyid (SEEI).
