IRO ITB Held ITB Cultural Day, Introducing Indonesian Culture to International Students

Naufal Hafizh) BANDUNG, itb.ac.id — The Bureau of Partnership of Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) held ITB Cultural Day 2024 on November 2, 2024, in IRO ITB Office, Ganesha Street No. 17, Bandung. This event invited several international students from various countries who were studying at ITB.
Director of the Directorate of Student Affairs ITB, D. Arch. G. Prasetyo Adhitama, S.Sn., M.Sn., hoped in his welcoming speech that the event would be memorable for the participants. Meanwhile, Head of International Mobility Affairs, Dr. Annisa Jusuf, S.T., M.T., stated that the event was an excellent opportunity to showcase Indonesian culture, arts, and heritage to foreign international students. "I encourage everyone to be active in exploring new cultures and enjoying the show," she urged.
During the event, the Lingkung Seni Sunda (LSS) ITB Student Association displayed the Merak dance, while the Unit Kebudayaan Aceh (UKA) ITB Student Association presented the Likok Pulo dance. After the participants watched the performance, they were divided into three groups. Every group learned the Merak dance, the Likok Pulo dance, and Caping painting for 45 minutes each. They then took turns to learn the other groups' parts.

One of the event's participants, Aung, a Master's student in chemical engineering from Myanmar, expressed their happiness at ITB Cultural Day 2024. Besides meeting a lot of people from different countries, they also could learn about Indonesian culture, including its dances. "The event is so fun. I am happy to meet many people from various countries," Aung revealed.

At the end of the event, every group performed the previously learned Merak and Likok Pulo dances. There was then an awarding session for every group and the three participants with the best Caping painting.
