ITB Representative Won 1st Place in International Oil Rig Design Competition

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Gaining another achievement at International level, ITB representative won the first place in Oil Rig Design Competition Borneo Oil and Gas Symposium (BOGS) 2017 held by Society of Petroleum Engineers Chapter Curtin University in Sarawak, Malaysia. Lophelia ITB-Migas Hulu Jabar—the name of the team—were consisted of Dika Iqbal Lidyanto (Petroleum Engineering 2013), Fahmi Nugraha (Petroleum Engineering 2013), Bintang Widya (Architecture 2014), dan Kharisma Jayatra (Ocean Engineering 2013). Oil Rig Design Competition is a competition for offshore oil rig design based on study case given.
Prior to competing in Malaysia, Team Lophelia ITB had to first send their rig design blueprint, before three teams were chosen to compete in Malaysia on 4-8 July, namely from ITS, UCSI Malaysia, and Lophelia ITB. Dika, one of the team members said that the plus point of his team to winning is their comprehensive design in both its technical and model. Another plus point, they explained in details every general aspect used during drilling operation. “The feeling of gratitude, proud, and happiness are there because (we) bring the name of ITB and Indonesia,” said Dika. Concluding the interview, he hoped this achievement will inspire other achievement in similar competition in International level.
