ITB will Host Two National Debate Championships

In September 2012, SEF ITB will hold Ganesha Open Debate Championship 2012. This championship has the format of British Parliamentary (there are four teams in one game, each team consist of two people - ed). Not only a student, school students and alumni can also take part in these championship match. In fact, a team may consist of individuals from different institutions (schools and universities). This is in line with the purpose of debate, which is preparing for the critical thinkers generation, which in essence is not limited to institutions, educational status, and age only.
In January 2013, this students unit will host Indonesian Varsities English Debate (IVED) Championship 2013. Unlike Ganesha Open, IVED have Australasian Parliamentary format (there are two teams in one game, each team consist of three people - ed). IVED is the first parliamentary debate competition in Indonesia. Since it was first held in 1998, the IVED host is alternated each year, chosen by the 'council meeting'.
In IVED 2012 at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), ITB SEF got the confidence to host IVED 2013. Throughout the history of the tournament, SEF ITB has been three times organize this event. It is in 2001, 2010, and 2013.
