ITB Won The Drug Modelling Competition on University of Indonesia

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - A wonderful achievement came from School of Pharmacy ITB on one of the biggest drug modelling competition in Indonesia. This competition was a part of The 3rd Pharweek event which was held by Pharmaceutical Students Association on Univesity of Indonesia (BEM FF UI). The 3rd Pharweek lasted on Friday to Sunday (18-20/01/13) in University of Indonesia. School of Pharmacy ITB sent 4 students to join this competition. They are Andhika Bintang Mahardhika, Stefanus Andry, Hani Hasanah, dan Nursamsiar.

The 3rd Pharweek with its theme'Through Healthy to Beauty' had four contents. They are Community Service and Campaig, Workshop, Competition and menjadi empat garis besar acara inti, yaitu Kampanye dan Layanan Masyarakat, Workshop, Seminar, and Competition. Seminar and competition are divided into three groups, Drug Modeling Competition (DMC), Patient Counseling Competition (PCC), and Internasional Seminar. For adding information, Drug Modeling is a method for designing drug by using computation process which is aim to decrease cost and time production. Then, according to one of a research from a lecturer on School of Pharmacy, Dr.rer.nat. Rahmana Emran Kartasasmita, M.Si.,Apt about a drug for digestive disease, they made a modification to this design. Then, that model was proposed to join this competition.

Try to be The Best and Never be Afraid to Try

After being successful in project proposal selection, they finally being a finalist on this competition together with another team from University of Indonesia. On final, finalists had to make a publication in form of poster and then they explained about their drug products for 15 minutes. Jury team were consist of Pharmacist from University of Indonesia and Gadjah Mada University.

By doing the best and enough of subject literacy studying, finally a team for ITB won this competition and beat a team from University of Indonesia. "Although we had enough studying litercay, but at first we weren't confident to beat a team from University of Indonesia as a host. Even, when the winner was announced, i still didn't believe and ensured the others team member that we're getting 2nd winner. Then, when a reward was given to us, i had just believe that we are the first winner on this competition," said Andry.

Nursamsiar said that the biggest motivation for her to join this competition is about burden. School of Pharmacy ITB is famous in Indonesia and this fact made her eager to be a winner. "Well,the most important is never be afraid and hesitate to try.With competence cluster which is still young and limited knowledge, we were able to be a winner in this competition. Moreover for subjects which have been established firmly. They will have a bigger chance to be winner than us.
