Jero Wacik Performed Gamelan Music at Malam Pagelaran Bali Kreasi

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Jero Wacik, took part in Malam Pagelaran Bali Kreasi (Bali Performance Night). Bali Kreasi is the main show conducted to close the series of event held by Maha Gotra Ganesha (MGG), Balinese culture ITB student union, to commemorate their 41st anniversary. Taking place at Open Theatre Dago Tea House Bandung, the show was conducted on Sunday (30/09/12). The spectators laughed their hearts out and were tremendously pleased by Mandara Giri Dance and by the other dances accompanied by the gamelan played by Jero Wacik.
The show was opened with Sekar Jempiring Dance, an energetic Balinese traditional dance. Following the dance was the opening speech given by Made Ian Maheswara (Chemical Engineering 2009), the Project Director of Bali Kreasi. Ian said that the theme of this year's event is "Kenali Indonesiamu, Kreasikan Budayamu" (Know Your Country, Perform Your Culture). "This event aims to promote Balinese culture among Indonesians." said Ian.

Jero Wacik, one of the founders and Chairman of MGG, gave the opening remarks. He enthusiastically told the brief history of MGG and several other stories while he was Chairman of MGG. The audience burst into laughter after hearing the stories as well as watching the comedy show performed by Bona and Andreas.

Mandara Giri is danced together with the narrated story and the played gamelan instrument. The story is told using beautiful dances that make use of modern visualization. In addition to that, Kebyar Duduk dance, Belibis dance, Cendrawasih dance, and many other traditional dances were also performed.

The audience watched with greatest enthusiasm as Jero Wacik started playing the Balinese gamelan Bali together with MGG seniors. The instrument was played together with Topeng dance performance. The event was closed with Garuda Wisnu dance performed by three male and three female dancers. The audience were especially amused when the three female dancers climbed over the shoulder of the male dancers and continued dancing.
