Kadarsah Suryadi, Rector of ITB 2014-2019: ITB to Become Entrepreneurial University

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - "Leaders are ordinary people who have extraordinary work," was a quote Prof. Dr Ir. Kadarsah Suryadi, DEA in Open Session Academic Senate last November. Kadarsah now elected as the new president for the period 2014-2019 ITB replace Prof. Dr. Akhmaloka. Kadarsah pricing decision made during the plenary meeting of Board of Trustees of ITB held in BPI Building, Jalan Dipati Measure, Bandung on Monday (12.15.14). Earlier, in the period 2011-2014 Kadarsah served as Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs ITB (WRAM), the name was also no stranger to be heard by the students. During his tenure as WRAM, for example through the Common Preparatory Institute, Kadarsah produce handling mechanism TPB case of students who have been successful in reducing dropout rates ITB students study in the first year. Through student organizations (LK), have also been produced by the system and the mechanism of selection of candidates for scholarships aim at the mission. It was no less importance was the implementation of "tracer" for all undergraduate study program to get feedback from alumni. Results of "tracer" was very important for all courses as it can be input from the curriculum evaluation and improvement of the quality of teaching in the ITB. In addition, there were still many initiatives Kadarsah through the Directorate of Education, the Graduate School, the Institute of Education Research and Community Service (LP4), and other technical units during his tenure as WRAM.

Kadarsah also active in various organizations outside the ITB, such as Forum Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at the Council of State Indonesian Rector, Coordinator of the Regional Observatory on the Information Society in Asia and Pacific UNESCO, the Steering Committee of the AUN-USR & S (Asia University Network - University Social Responsibility and Sustainability), and still a lot of different experiences of other organizations. Since the year 2012, experienced Kadarsah also a visiting professor at the Decision Making and Knowledge Management at the Ecole des Mines de Nantes - France.
Kadarsah earned his bachelor's degree from the Department of Industrial Engineering ITB in 1986, then he continued his studies at the Master Program of Technology Innovation Management in the Department of Industrial Technology, Ecole Centrale Paris, France. Later he continued his studies until the doctorate level at the Universite d'Aix Marsaille-3, France. Kadarsah were academics who specialize research in the field of Computer Aided Decision Support System and Technology Innovation Management.

He had also been receiving many awards such as ITB Exemplary Student and Student National Exemplar, Satyalancana Dwidya Sistha, Satyalancana Karya Satya and the last was Badges Service Award 25 Years of ITB He obtained. During his career at the Bandung Institute of Technology, Kadarsah has produced approximately 88 scientific papers, which consists of 8 international journals, books 4, 5 pieces national journals, 38 papers in international proceedings and 33 papers in national proceedings.

ITB Strategic Programme Plan to Achieve Entrepreneurial University
In the program he proclaimed, Kadarsah states that ITB future development direction was to become a world-class research university role as a pioneer and frontline in addressing the problems of the local and national levels to improve the well-being and competitiveness of the nation. It was operated by an increase in the work that was recognized and respected by the international community. Then the next ITB development was also directed to produce graduates who were internationally competitive, prestigious, pioneering spirit and integrity.

Some targets were Kadarsah decides to include an increase in courses that were internationally accredited study programs of 13 to 35 study programs, and increased international grade of 3 classes to 15 classes a few strategies in academic roles ITB. In its strategy, Kadarsah also launched an increasing number of patents, prototypes, and creative work; cooperation with various parties to implement the results of research and creative work to address the nation, and reorient the focus of research. Various strategies have attempted to strengthen the ITB as a Research University to heading Entrepreneur University.
