BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Vice Rector of Research, Innovation, and Partnership of Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Prof. Dr. Bambang Riyanto Trilaksono and Executive Vice President of Finland University, Pasi Kaskinen signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) on academic and research. The MoU was signed on Monday (17/9/2018) at Executive Meeting Room A, ITB’s Rector Building, Jl. Tamansari No. 64 Bandung.

Finland is well-known for its excellent academic system in elementary and secondary schools which focuses on the quality of the students. This affects the students’ performance in university. Building partnership with Finland is a good chance to build quality education in Indonesia.

After the MoU signing, Pasi give a few remarks and explained about the most known and interested university major in Finland, Teacher Education. It is unfortunate that not many Indonesian students take the major. “The number of Indonesian students in Finland are only about 20 persons, in contrast to students coming from Japan, China, and South Korea who are more numerous. But I see that Indonesian students have the same potential with Finland students. We can do joint research to face numerous challenges ahead,” Pasi said.

Responding to Pasi’s statements, Bambang Riyanto said that ITB has master programs in Teacher Education included in Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. “ITB also has master programs in teaching education which are Physics Teaching, Mathematics for Teaching, and Chemistry Teaching. This can be a potential collaboration,” said Prof. Bambang.

Entering disruption era, competition among job seekers will happen soon. This spurred ITB to continue the improvement the quality of its education. “With this MoU signing, I hope that ITB and Finland University can work together to conduct various researches and produce quality teachers,” concluded Prof. Bambang.
