Palm O’Corner Webinar: Palm as Sustainable Energy Source

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Palm Oil Agribusiness Strategic Policy Institute (PASPI) together with Institut Teknologi Bandung Chemical Engineering Student Union (HIMATEK-ITB) held a webinar titled “Palm as a Sustainable Energy Source” on Saturday (29/5/2021).


Some of the speakers for this webinar are Executive Director of PASPI, Dr. Tungkot Sipayung, ITB Chemical Engineering Lecturer, Dr. Ir. Tatang Hernas, The Indonesian Ambassador to Brussels and European Union, Dr. Andi Hadi, S.H. LLM., and Director of Bioenergy on The Directorate General Energy of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE), Andriah Feby Misna, S.T., M.T. Four of them talked about sustainable energy obtained from palm.

The first speaker was the Executive Director of PASPI, Dr. Tungkot Sipayung. He talked about the social, economic, and ecological aspect of palm biofuel-energy.

Second was ITB Chemical Engineering Lecturer, Dr. Ir. Tatang Hernas. He discussed a topic under the title “Could Indonesia be a Leader of World Biofuels by Engaging on Palm?”.

The third speaker was Director of Bioenergy on The Directorate General of EBTKE Andriah Feby Misna, S.T., M.T. She explained a material regarding the development of biofuels in Indonesia.

The last material was a little bit different from the previous three, it was delivered by The Indonesian Ambassador to Brussels and European Union, Dr. Andi Hadi, S.H. LLM. He talked about the policy and issues on palm trade and biofuels in European Union. He also explains “The Brussels Effect” and uncovers the reason behind why European Union has the ability to unilaterally regulate the global markets.
