CIREBON, itb.ac.id—As the final series of ITB Ultra Marathon 2021 sports activities, the ITB Ultra Marathon Exhibition was successfully held on Saturday, December 18, 2021. For this prestigious running event, the participants of the Exhibition Run raced 125 kilometers from the Campus of Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) on Jalan Ganesha in Bandung City to the Campus of ITB in Cirebon .
Individual runners, two-person relay teams (Relay 2/R2), and five-person relay teams (R5) took to the track in front of the ITB Campus on Jalan Ganesha.
On Saturday morning, ITB Director of Education Dr. techn. Ir. Arief Hariyanto waved the runners off from the starting line. ITB alumni, including Ahmad Salahuddin Zulfa, Chief Executive of the ITB Ultra Marathon, Susilo Siswoutomo, Chairperson of the Solidarity Forever Foundation, and Fine Alamsyah, Deputy Chairperson of the ITB Alumni Association II, were also present to witness the runners' release. ITB Rector Reini Wirahadikusumah enthusiastically supported this event.
The ITB Ultra Marathon 2021 featured both offline and online competitions. The attendees included ITB alumni, ITB extended families, professional runners, and the public. The Bandung-Cirebon Exhibition Run served as the venue for the offline competition. Participants ran a 125-kilometer course that began at the ITB Campus in Bandung and ended at the ITB Campus in Cirebon.
In the meantime, the online competition had been running since November 19, 2021. Participants in the online competition came from all over Indonesia, and even from other countries. Participants ran on a 100-kilometer track in their respective areas. Using the application, they proved their mileage. The activity was broadcast on social media platforms such as Instagram Live, YouTube, and Facebook.
The Ultra Cycling Challenge was also held in November 2021 by the committee. The route followed the same path as the marathon, beginning at the ITB Campus in Bandung and ending at the ITB Campus in Cirebon. As a form of dedication to the alma mater, the activity aimed to increase the solidarity of alumni and the ITB extended family. As part of the activity, the committee of Solidarity Forever Foundation also raised funds for the development and quality of ITB activity funding facilities. The Solidarity Forever Foundation made contributions such as providing scholarships to deserving students, improving laboratory quality, and initiating research on Covid-19 vaccines. Finally, these activities were aimed at bringing greater benefits to the Indonesian people and the homeland.
The ITB Ultra Marathon 2021 also had the goal of introducing the public to the ITB Campus in Arjawinangun, Cirebon. In January 2022, learning activities at the Cirebon Campus of ITB will begin.
As a result, upon crossing the finish line, ultra marathon participants were greeted with an open house activity introducing the ITB Campus in Cirebon. Participants were given a variety of information about typical Cirebon dishes. The Solidarity Forever Foundation organized this activity.
