Two Young ITB Lecturers Win Achmad Bakrie Awards 2024

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - Two lecturers from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Afriyanti Sumboja, Ph.D., and Dr. Grandprix Thomryes Marth Kadja, M.Si., achieved great recognition by winning the Achmad Bakrie XX Awards 2024.
The Achmad Bakrie XX Awards 2024 ceremony was held on August 22, 2024, at Ciputra World, Kuningan, Jakarta. The event was also attended by Indonesia’s Vice President, K.H. Ma'ruf Amin.
Afriyanti Sumboja, Ph.D., from the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FMAE) ITB, won an award in the Science and Technology category. Meanwhile, Dr. Grandprix from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMNS) ITB won the Special Award: Young Scientist.
For context, Afriyanti Sumboja, Ph.D., is a researcher and an active representative of Indonesia on the global stage in fundamental research and a specialist in Materials Engineering, focusing on next-generation battery development with enhanced energy storage performance.
Additionally, Dr. Grandprix was chosen as a Young Scientist at the age of 31 for his success in developing nanomaterials as catalysts for sustainable energy.
Other recipients of the Achmad Bakrie XX Awards include Jusuf Wanandi (Social Thought), Zawawi Imron (Art and Culture: Literature), and Harapan (Health).
The Chair of the Achmad Bakrie XX Awards 2024, Aninditha Anestya Bakrie, stated that the recipients were selected by competent judges from various backgrounds and areas of expertise.
“This year, we have made the judges' profiles public so that people can see that the recipients were chosen by highly competent and credible judges,” said Ditha.
Moreover, starting this year, the categories have been restructured into five fields: Social Thought, Art and Culture, Science and Technology, Health, and Special Awards. These will remain the fixed categories for future awards.
This achievement demonstrates that ITB scientists have significantly contributed to national development, particularly in advancing knowledge and technology in science and energy, with a focus on creating innovative solutions to address future sustainable energy challenges.
