BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - Institut Teknologi Bandung, with the initiative of the lecturers from the School of Business and Management (SBM), has achieved a remarkable success by receiving an award at The 2023 Perhumas PR Excellence Award (PREA) during the Indonesian Public Relation Convention "Moving Forward Together for Indonesia" in Semarang on Saturday (2/9/2023).
This award was accepted by Melia Famiola, Ph.D., the Coordinator of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), as well as the Lead Program Responsible for Management Education (PRME) at SBM ITB.
During the event organized by the Indonesian Public Relations Association (Perhumas), ITB was honored as the 2nd place winner in the PR digital category with the theme of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), for the Urban Circular Initiative Program.
The 2023 PREA Competition saw participation from public relations institutions in government, corporations, state-owned enterprises (BUMN), municipally-owned enterprises (BUMD), and higher education public relations in Indonesia.
Melia mentioned that the Urban Circular Initiative Program has been running for 3 years. In the face of social and environmental challenges both on campus and in the broader Bandung area, their team has plans to create circular society models.
"For instance, trash remains a problem. We, along with the community, are taking action for our environment, even building their economy from trash itself," she stated.
The program's mission is to complete the roadmap for creating a circular economy in Indonesia. According to her, global studies also show that a circular economy can never be created without a circular society.
"In the past year, SBM has continued to develop various ESG programs by assisting corporations with their CSR initiatives, associating with the government through the Social Office of West Java, and providing support for impactful businesses and businesses with a purpose run by students and alumni,” she concluded.
