BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) students managed to win another impressive achievement. Sans Corp Team from the School of Business and Management won the 2nd Runner-Up position at the HSBC Business Case Competition 2023.

The team members are Ramel Akil Pratama (Management, 2024), Florenza Kurniawan (Management, 2024), Evan Ricardo Ang (Management, 2024), and Eli Sulistiyowati (Management 2024). The team was supervised by Atika Irawan, S.Mn., M.Sc.

In the competition, they compete with various teams from reputable universities in Indonesia to solve a problem in a business case that was presented by PT Bank HSBC Indonesia.

In an interview, Ramel Akil Pratama said that their journey began with an internal selection in their faculty. SBM ITB has gathered data of students who have participated in many competitions, they then were arranged based on their achievements. After four best names were gathered, the team then registered to take part in the competition.

Sans Corp Team went through four stages, regional round, preliminary round, battle round, and final round. The Sans Corp Team managed to reach the top two places at the battle round and advanced to the next round.

“In the final round, Sans Corp met with teams from Universitas Gadjah Mada and Universitas Prasetiya Mulya. After a fierce competition, we became the 2nd Runner-Up,” added Ramel.

Evan Ricardo Ang added, the study case was challenging and quite interesting. The case study topic was about sustainability. In the regional round, the team needs to present their argument on the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of Ant Group. The topic for the preliminary round was the transformation of a gas company into a renewable energy company. In the final round, they were tasked to solve a problem in a company named Shein.

The rules of competition did not change much from the previous year. All teams were tasked to solve a case study in 6 hours and create a handwritten presentation slide to be presented in front of the juries. This competition involves juries from the company’s board of directors and experts in the field of business and corporate.

Florenca Kurniawan said that the case study topics were quite challenging. Topics such as gas company transformation were in contrast with their background. They were also required to solve a problem quickly and to think nimbly.

“We need to learn those topics seriously and quickly, looking for relevant data and facts on a gas company so that we could provide suitable and optimal solutions to solve the problem,” Florenza concluded.
