BANDUNG, itb.ac.id-- A mobile corn dryer was introduced on Monday, October 4, 2021, as a result of a collaboration between the Institute for Innovation Development and Entrepreneurship (LPIK), Institut Teknologi Bandung, and PT Charoen Pokphand Indonesia.

The Bandung Institute of Technology team was led by Dr. Toto Hardianto from the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD), and included Dr. Nathanael Panagung Tandian, M.Sc. (FTMD) and Dr. Pranoto Hidaya Rusmin, S.T., M.T. (School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics/STEI), as well as crews of young lecturers and researchers from FTMD and STEI.

A team from PT Charoen Pokphand Indonesia, led by Mr. Emier Shandy, Vice President Technology & Engineering, attended the launch event, as well as Prof. Dr. Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara, M.T., Dean of FTMD ITB, and Rofiq Iqbal, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D., from the LPIK team.

This Mobile Corn Dryer Unit has a capacity of 1.5 tons per hour and can reduce moisture content by 10%. Dr. Toto Hardianto stated that this development cooperation activity has been ongoing for more than a year. As a result, several design innovations have emerged, allowing this new system to save up to 30% on fuel, reduce the number of operators by 50%, and increase productivity by 50% over the previous system.

The collaboration between PT Charoen Pokphand Indonesia, an agricultural and farming industry, and ITB is a strategic partnership in developing technologies that are relevant and needed by the community in order to improve Indonesia's food security.

"In the future, various variants of comparable instruments and additional agricultural processing equipment that are required by industry and the community will be produced," said Dr. Toto Hardianto.
