Urban Planning and Design Research Group is an expertise group within the School of Architecture, Planning and Policy Development specializing in research and practical field of urban planning and design. In Urban Planning and Design Research Group, the research themes are driven by the conviction to promoting humane and sustainable forms of urban development, understanding rapid urbanization, and encouraging innovation in the policy, design, planning, and management in respond to the economic, social, and environmental development of cities and regions in Indonesia. The research topics that are pursued and developed in Urban Planning and Design Research Group including, but not limited to, land development, human settlement, urban tourism, transit-oriented development, smart cities, and the utilization of planning tools. The central purpose of Urban Planning and Design Research Group is to apply the Tri Dharma of higher education through research. Our research ranges from theoretical research to practical research which provides feedback on the practical level to the local government, private sector, and communities. The knowledge from these activities is accumulated for academic and teaching activities in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning.
